Around 5am, Harlem-Roscoe Firefighters were able to successfully stop a leaking anhydrous ammonia tank in a farmer's field off Prairie Hill Road.
HRFD officers coordinated on scene with ESDA, reps from Delong (owners of the tank), and a Winnebago County Sheriff'sOfficer. The decision was made to send a fully-geared and masked firefighter up to the tank to see if the leaking valve could be closed. Firefighters used two hose lines to protect the firefighter as he approached the tank and sucessfully stopped the leak on the tank.
