Fatal Accident on Hononegah Road

Turning out on to Hononegah Road from Edgemere Terrace in Roscoe is never easy. It turned fatal on March 25 for a South Beloit man when the car he was driving was hit by a van. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his wife was airlifted to Saint Anthony Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the van was transported by Harlem-Roscoe's Ambulance with non life-threatening injuries. An ambulance from Rockton Fire was also used at the scene.

Spectators were everywhere at the busy intersection and watched in awe as two helicopters were landed near the fatal scene. "For the safety of all involved, we shut down Hononegah Road to land both React and Lifeline Helicopters" says Harlem-Roscoe Fire Chief Don Shoevlin. "With the increase in traffic congestion in the area, I hope we can all work to minimize incidents of this severity!"
