Trash in Trailer Catches Fire

04/21/14

Harlem-Roscoe Firefighters were rousted from their beds around 3am for a fire alarm at Advance Disposal at 11315 N. 2nd St. in Roscoe. Firefighters arrived to smoke showing and audible alarms. They found that trash in a semi trailer that was parked in the lower level had started on fire burning up through the grate and setting off the fire sprinklers. The trailer was pulled outside but the fire had burned enough electrical that the load couldn't be dumped. So firefighters basically went dumpster diving in the trailer and hosed down hot spots with water and foam. The fire flared back up a few hours later and this time the quint ladder truck was also used to spray into the trailer.
