Foam Needed to Fight Van on Fire

Photos & Story by Sheryl Drost

May 1, 2008, fire erupted when workers were scraping out a gas tank in a van on Shappert Drive in Machesney Park. Harlem-Roscoe Firefighters arrived to find the rear end of a van up on a fork lift with smoke and fire billowing out. Foam was called for as the gas in the gas tank was quickly becoming an issue for firefighters as they started attacking the fire.
