Firefighters were dispatched for a fully involved barn fire off Belvidere Rd. on July 7 at 11:19am. Besides the barn burning, the fire had spread to the nearby field and was heading to another building and a wooded area. First in firefighters attacked the fire in the building and set up water supply. Then it looked like the calvery had arrived as the grass rig arrived and headed out to the field and tankers arrived.
The grass rig and an engine went after the burning field. Firefighters made an agressive attack on both the building and the field and quckly had the fire controlled. Due to the heat, a MABAS box was called and tankers arrived to supply water and manpower to help with overhaul.
Even though there was actually a pile of brush burning nearby, they actually had caught fire from the fire in the barn. The owners said they haven't burned in a couple weeks. The barn had no windows, but it did have a pile of windows in the barn that is believed to have acted like a magnifying glass starting combustibles on fire in the barn.
