Harlem-Roscoe Firefighters were dispatched to Marlin Dr. in Machesney Park for a report of a car in a pond. When units arrived they found a Winnebago Sheriff's Deputy had already entered the cold water to see if someone was still inside. Firefighters quickly donned Mustang cold water suits and continued the search. There was no one in the vehicle. The officer was helped out of the water and taken to an ambulance to warm up. Firefighters then helped the tow company hook up their ropes to the vehicle and it was towed out of the pond. The Winnebago Co. Sheriffs Office is investigating the accident.
