The temperature outside was cold, but the hearts of those attending the Stateline Firefighters Memorial Service were warm with memories of fallen Stateline Area firefighters. A procession including color guards, bag pipers, firefighters, chaplains, fire personnel, and fire apparatus first wove its way through the streets of Beloit to the pavilion at the park on the river's edge where the ceremony was held. New fire apparatus were blessed and fallen active and retired firefighters were honored in a very emotional ceremony. Harlem-Roscoe Fire's Chief, Chaplains, and two Honor Guards were involved in the ceremony and other Officers marched in the procession and attended the ceremony.

Two retired honorees from Harlem-Roscoe Fire were James Puhl (Firefighter/Engineer) and Gerald Schreck (Captain). North Park Fire honoree Jim Sutherland was also a dispatcher for Harlem-Roscoe.

More pictures of the ceremony may be seen on the Harlem-Roscoe Fire fan page on Facebook...

Above right, Jeff Schreck accepted the rose and flag in memory of his father, retired Captain Gerald Schreck.
